The new world view of Kopernikus
The old world view around 1450
- the earth is flat
- wheels drive the sun, stars, and the moon
- the earth is the center of all stars
- the earth is surrounded by a cover
Kopernikus's world view
- the earth is round
- the earth is neither surrounded by a cover nor is it the center of the universe
- the sun is a fixed star and the lifegiving center
- stars, moons, and planets revolve around the sun on distinct trajectories
